Kjaer to miss relegation clash

Wolfsburg will have to do without Denmark defender Simon Kjaer for their crucial relegation battle with Eintracht Frankfurt next week after he damaged ankle ligaments while on international duty.

Kjaer was forced to pull out of his nation's matches with Norway and Slovakia after tearing ligaments in training. He will undergo further tests upon his return to Germany, but the 21-year-old is almost certainly going to miss the clash with Frankfurt at the VW-Arena next Sunday.

Kjaer will therefore take no part in new coach Felix Magath's punishing training regime for a few weeks.

On Friday, Magath put his team through their paces climbing a hill he had built artificially at the club's training facilities during his first spell in charge between 2007 and 2009.

"I am having fun," Magath said afterwards."I have a better impression [of the players] now than I did after the Stuttgart game."

Magath criticised the physical condition of the squad he inherited from Pierre Littbarski and Steve McClaren when he took over at the Wolves last week, but he now admits they are not as bad as he first thought. "I am going to have to reconsider my criticism," he said.
