Velez Sarsfield are just one point clear at the top of the Argentinian Clausura after losing 3-2 at Lanus on Sunday.
The visitors led twice through a double from David Ramirez, but Santiago Hoyos and Diego Valeri ensured Lanus were level at half-time.
And Silvio Romero scored what proved to be the winner just five minutes into the second half.
That meant Lanus moved up to third in the table after Olimpo lost 2-1 at home to Independiente.
Facundo Parra (48) and Patricio Rodriguez (86) put the visitors in command and Olimpo had Federico Dominguez sent off two minutes from time before Julio Cesar Furch's consolation.
Elsewhere, Boca Juniors had Clemente Rodriguez sent off in the last minute, but had already secured a 2-0 win over River Plate thanks to an own goal from Juan Carrizo (27) and Martin Palermo's strike three minutes later.
Tigre twice came from behind to claim a 2-2 draw at Estudiantes.
Ramiro Leone (50) cancelled out Gaston Fernandez's 45th-minute penalty and Mariano Echeverria (74) secured a point after Enzo Perez (58) had put the home side back in front.
