ADO Den Haag's Lex Immers has apologised after the Dutch FA opened an investigation into a video of him chanting anti-Semitic slogans.
Immers scored as ADO beat Ajax 3-2 on Sunday, but was later caught on camera in a bar joining in with a song called 'We're going to hunt for Jews' - aimed at Ajax's traditional Jewish support.
ADO are investigating the incident and stated Immers would be handed the maximum fine possible.
The player himself said: "I got carried away in the euphoria of a special win and at that moment was unaware of the offensive tone to an entire nation. I regret it and will accept the penalty imposed on me."
He added in Voetbal International: "In the presence of two coaches, a player and a group of fans I have let the fan in me go. When I sing 'We're going to hunt for Jews', I mean that we want to beat Ajax. Nothing more, nothing less. The slogan 'We're going to hunt for Jews' seemed innocent."
